Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 ounces rotini pasta
  • 2 chicken sausage links, sliced into bite-size pieces
  • 1 small zucchini, chopped
  • 2 cups broccoli florets
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes, optional
  • 1/3 cup reserved pasta water
  • 2 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese, optional
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice, optional

Instructions

  1. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil and cook the rotini according to the package directions until al dente. Reserve 1/3 cup of pasta water, then drain the pasta.

  3. Add the sliced chicken sausage and cook for 4 to 5 minutes until browned on both sides.

  6. Add the cooked rotini to the skillet and pour in the reserved pasta water.
  7. Toss everything together until the pasta is glossy and well coated.
